Birthday lunch affair: Old Hong Kong @ Raffles City

13 June 2013

The team suggested to lunch at Old Hong Kong today to celebrate my be-lated birthday. Anna, Joyce & Tina were busy looking at the menu and discussing what to try.
Following are the dishes that we had ordered. The waitress is slicing the perking duck right in front of us, the skin is crispy and chewy, and there were 2-3 different sauce for you to choose. The remaining meat of the duck were used to fry another dish with bean curd skin and I must say that the dish was rather disappointing as there weren’t much duck meat (can’t believe that’s the remaining meat of the perking duck which we had just saw). Moreover we were charged for the cooking of the dish.

Items ordered: 9
Peaking Duck (doesn’t come cheap, abt $60)
Stewed Ee Fu noodles
Siew Mai
Steamed prawn dumpling (aka Ha-kau)
Rice roll with prawns
Rice roll with scallop
Salted egg custard steamed bun (aka Liu Sa Bao)
Xiao Long Bao
Carrot cake

Overall, I only find the peaking duck delicious (give credit to the sauce too), Siew Mai & Liu Sa Bao are not bad and the rest of the dishes are just average. The Ee Fu noodle being the worse, it taste bland.

The total bill cost near to $200 for 6 pax. If given a choice, I will not patronize again, except for their Peaking Duck.
